Lifeline Program Disclosure

We are not Lifeline, the FCC, or USAC

Free Tablet Finder is an independent website. We are not the Lifeline program, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), or the National Verifier, and we have no affiliation with, endorsement from, or partnership with any of them.

We cannot enroll you in Lifeline, check the status of your application or benefit, or access any information about your account. Only USAC and your chosen Lifeline provider can do that.

What Lifeline actually is

Lifeline is a federal benefit program created by the FCC in 1985. It provides a monthly discount on phone or internet service — up to $9.25 per month for most eligible households, or up to $34.25 on qualifying Tribal lands — through providers approved by the FCC. It is a service discount, not a program that hands out free tablets.

Eligibility is based on household income (generally at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines) or participation in a qualifying program such as SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, or Federal Public Housing Assistance. Only one Lifeline benefit is allowed per household.

About device offers

Some individual Lifeline-approved carriers separately choose to offer a free or discounted tablet or phone as a business promotion when you sign up for their service. These offers are made by the carrier, not by the federal government or by Lifeline itself, and they change frequently based on each carrier's own inventory and marketing decisions. We note this on every relevant program and provider page, and we recommend confirming any current device offer directly with the carrier before applying.

What we actually do

We research Lifeline and its approved providers using official sources — primarily fcc.gov and usac.org — and summarize that information here so you can compare providers and understand the rules in plain language before you apply directly through the official channel.
