A tablet or laptop isn't optional anymore
Applying for jobs, doing homework, managing a SNAP or Medicaid case, and talking to a doctor over telehealth all assume you own a working device and have internet access. For millions of low-income households, that assumption doesn't hold.
National surveys have found that roughly four in ten adults in lower-income households don't have a desktop or laptop computer at home, and a similar share lack a reliable home broadband connection (Pew Research Center). The FCC's Lifeline program has helped close that gap on phone and internet bills since it was created in 1985, and a patchwork of nonprofits, schools, and carriers has grown up around it to help with devices too.
The problem is that this landscape is scattered across dozens of separate websites, and it's exactly the kind of gap that scam sites love to exploit with fake "free iPhone" and "free government tablet" offers. We built Free Tablet Finder to be the plain, honest map of what's actually real.

Free Tablet Finder isn't a scraper or an ad network. Every listing goes through the same manual process.
Research from official sources
We start at the program's own site — FCC, USAC, a state agency, or the nonprofit's official page — not a marketing blog.
Verify eligibility rules
Income limits, qualifying benefits, and device types are checked against the source before anything is published.
Flag changes and endings
When a program closes — like the Affordable Connectivity Program in 2024 — we mark it "ended" instead of leaving a stale page up.
Link directly, collect nothing
Every "Apply" button sends you to the program's real application. We don't ask for your SSN, income, or payment details.
